Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
PCEA Kikuyu Hospital, a leading faith-based healthcare institution, is seeking a highly competent and motivated individual to fill the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The hospital is dedicated to the mission of providing quality, affordable healthcare and training services driven by Christian values and has four units, namely, General, Eye, Orthopaedic & Rehabilitation, and Dental. In addition, the hospital has a School of Nursing and a satellite clinic, which is located at Matasia in Ngong. We are committed to ethical stewardship and financial accountability in fulfilling our mission.

Job purpose
The overall purpose of this role is to provide strategic leadership and overall direction for PCEA Kikuyu Hospital, ensuring effective delivery of high-quality, patient-centered healthcare services. Operating within the policy framework set by the PCEA, the CEO is responsible for overseeing all administrative, financial, and operational functions of the hospital. This includes driving strategic planning, ensuring patient safety, promoting quality healthcare, maintaining financial sustainability, and fostering a culture of excellence, compliance, and innovation. The CEO also serves as the hospitals chief representative, cultivating strong relationships with stakeholders, propagating the mission of PCEA, and ensuring the institution remains responsive to evolving healthcare needs.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Governance
a) Lead the development and execution of the hospitals strategic plan.
b) Translate strategic priorities into operational objectives and measurable outcomes.
c) Advise and support the hospital Board by providing timely, evidence-based reports and strategic recommendations.
d) Lead the Formulation and implementation of the institutional policies and procedures.
e) Ensure policies are regularly reviewed and updated.
Patient Safety and Clinical Quality
g) Lead in addressing deficiencies and implementing targeted quality improvement initiatives.
Training and Research
h) Oversee the development and management of the hospitals training programs, including. undergraduate, research, and postgraduate programs.
i) Ensure the delivery of high-quality education and clinical training aligned with national and international standards.
Financial Management, Procurement, and Sustainability
j) Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the hospital's annual budget.
k) Serve as an authorized signatory to hospital accounts and contracts.
l) Oversee procurement and supply chain processes.
Human Capital and Organizational Culture
m) Foster a high-performance organizational culture that values teamwork, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
n) Promote staff engagement through inclusive leadership, open communication, and recognition of excellence.
Compliance, Risk and Legal Affairs
o) Ensure full compliance with all applicable laws, healthcare regulations, and accreditation standards.
p) Oversee institutional risk management.
Stakeholder Engagement, External Relations, and Customer Care
q) Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
r) Represent the hospital in national and international forums.
s) Serve as the hospitals chief spokesperson.
t) Oversee the implementation of effective customer care strategies.
Innovation, Infrastructure, Marketing, and Institutional Development
u) Drive innovation in healthcare delivery, digital transformation, and operational efficiency.
v) Oversee infrastructure development, maintenance, and modernization projects.
w) Lead the development and execution of marketing and brand positioning strategies.
Spiritual Leadership and Institutional Culture
x) Provide visionary spiritual leadership that upholds and models the hospital's Christian values.
y) Promote spiritual well-being among staff, patients, and the community.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should possess:
- A Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA), Healthcare Management, Health Administration (MHA), Healthcare Innovation (MHI), or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Relevant professional certification and registration with the appropriate regulatory body.
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years management experience, with at least ten (10) years in senior leadership within a hospital setting.
- Prior experience in a mission hospital is highly desirable.
